Celebrating my Birthday on October 17th I went to Dzogchen Ati yoga Alpine retreat, returning to the Sky mandala after few years . It was sunny and warm autumn day…Travelling through Maribor city toward Dravograd I saw the river Drava in autumn sunshine . Continuing over to Carinthia region in Austria I was driving through Wolfsberg and further to Weinebene mountain plateau in Alps .

It was long four hours driving with the car , because of traffic and some repairs on the roads it took me some 1,5 hours longer as I planned … So I arrived late in the afternoon to 1600 m above sea level to the region between Styria and Carinthia. Its really futuristic to see thirteen conventional wind turbines placed on the plateau Weinebene ! These “installations” were not here in the past years .

I went swiftly up the hill to practice Shitro sadhana by terton Mingyur Dorje , sitting on the rock beneath one of those huge wind turbines. One can imagine that sacred syllables OM AH HUM are written on three spokes turning clockwise .

_(((♥)))_Perfect place to stay overnight … Night was completely clear and without wind , new Moon was rising , all tourists left to the valley before it was dark … plateaut was very still and solemn …
Next morning I went to the other side of the plateau , walking through majestic woods with evergreen spruces , surrounded by brooks .
To listen lively water flow in Alps is really something very special : listen well and contemplate !
My morning meditation was sadhana by Nyala Pema Dundul : long life practice of Guru Amitayus , Verse of prayer to Eight Noble Auspicious Ones and Sampa Nyur Drupma from Khandro Nyingthig liturgy .
I also enjoyed rich vegan foods which tasted especially well in the alpine air .
Next I went toward the lake and the brook where I relaxed and read hidden treasure Text by Nyala Pema Dundul : One hundred Thousand Buddhas Confession .
It is advised that we Ati yoga Dzogchen practitioners go for short meditation retreats from time to time . Buddha Shakyamuni was on silent retreat for six years , so we can manage to go for silent retreat for few days ! Not speaking to anybody is true blessing of such retreats . While we remain silent , avoiding any socialisations , we become more aware of nature around us . People who are socially engineered are completely entrapped into human and technological conditioning , thinking that only humans exist on this planet ! Yet there are trees , plants , sky , rocks, boulders , birds … Everything becomes more A-live when you are silent in nature …

As Nyala Pema Dundul said : “While in mountain retreats, we savour samadhi*s bliss and emptiness – never neglect the nourishment of meditation , O fortunate ones !”
