May this noble offering of Visual Dharma, created for the anniversary of Jetsun Milarepa, be pleasing to the Buddhas of the past. By reflecting, praying, meditating, favouring, rating 5*, sharing, commenting & embedding your positive Light energy increases. Send the Song of Love & Compassion throughout the world and take part in the Heritage of mankind.
I. Alive Dharma : Any sentient being who has heard the name Milarepa even once and in whom it awakened veneration, will not be reborn in lower realms for seven life times. This was prophesied by the Buddhas of the past. Jetsun Milarepa (1040-1123) is the most revered Buddhist mystic, poet and yogin who never founded any monastery. His life was very difficult and lead him from one remore area to another in S Tibet. For most of his adult life he lived in caves, surviving on whatever he was offered by local villagers or grew round about. He was known and loved by the songs he composed and sang to the people which poetically expressed his insights into the truths of Buddha Dharma. His main disciples were his attendant Rechungpa and the physician Gampopa. With this Visual Dharma we pay homage to all-present Lama Jetsun, as he was called by disciples. He sang this Song to Geshe Tsakpuhwa at the village of Drin. Geshe handed to him text on Buddhist logic and asked for explanation, word by word. The Master replied : You know very well the conceptual meaning of this text. But real spiritual meaning is found in abandoning eight worldly reactions and the personal ego, through destroying false perception of reality by realizing the single flavour of samsara and nirvana and through meditating in mountain solitudeArguing over words and pointing out what comes after that is totally useless if one does not practice the Dharma. I never studied logic. I know nothing about it and if I ever did, I forgot it now. I will tell you why. Listen to this Song. Thus he spoke and began to sing the Song of Love and Compassion. His spiritual Songs are timeless, but his advice is contemporary. His words arose spontaneously while listening the Sound of the Universe, as portrayed here. His Blessings pervade everywhere so that we can still listen to his Songs while turning our attention inward. This great joyful Song is accompanied by the mystic dance of the Dakini, the Sky Dancer. Milarepa can truly teach us what Faith and devotion mean : praying from the great energy of naturallness. His meditational deity Chakrasamvara liberated him from he coarse world of the senses . Those who practice secret mantrayana don´t debate. They don´t engage in doctrinal polemics & in pleasing unvirtuous relatives and friends. Have compassion, but no emotional hang-ups toward them, is Jetsun Milarepa´s advice. Contemplate that which is uncompaunded like the Sound*Light of Dharmata, as the Master did in the solitude of Himalayas. Your body is monastery , a temple. Respect it always beccome a vegetarian and save the planet !
II. Questions & answers : HH the Dalai Lama said when he answered questions in Dharamsala, Nov 2009 :
Is it permissible for Buddhists to eat meat ? The best is to give up meat completely. Festivals and ceremonies in all Tibetan monasteries & nunneries should be completely vegetarian.
Is it better to pray in one´s own language or in Tibetan ? It is better to pray in one´s own language.
P-S. Visual Dharmas are great help in this regard they have English translations .
