@ksherchand The interesting thing about Buddhism is that most of the western who appreciate Buddhism are the educated ones who are into philosophy and science
@babakalabash Not only philosophy and science. We teach Buddhist Dharma also as a Way of life , like GO VEG. BE GREEN. SAVE OUR PLANET ! In nowdays globalized world there is not so much difference between East and West. We don´t see ourselves as Westerners, but as Buddhists. Once again thank you for your thoughts and insights.

4.1 ♥♥ღ VISUAL DHARMA =WISDOM & COMPASSION IN ACTION

4.1.1. Spiritual Guidance for 3rd millennium
Short cultural history of Visual Dharma : when we look at ancient manuscripts and at old printing of Buddhist sacred texts we see nice paintings of Buddhist symbols, masters or Buddhist deities on front pages. Some paintings are even with gold colour…From this perspective we see how much devotion did these Buddhists have, by doing hand-painting and hand-colouring. These were their Dharma books. It was beginning of Buddhist Ars Sacra – contemplative or sacred art. Buddhist Dharma is included in Three Jewels of Refuge and must be respected as such. Three Jewels are source of Buddhist sacred art.
Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche writes about Art in his book Magic dance : “According to Buddhist point of view, an artist´s intention is compassion. … In tantric system artists express the quality of pure energy of inner elements externally through images and statues representing form; through teachings, songs, poems and music representing speech; through dances representing activities; and through infinite harmonious manifestations representing mind.”
Because we contemplated Dharma writings of Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche very much from 1990 onward, it was natural step forward to begin to illustrate Dharma books and magazines of our Vajra-Garuda publications and later e-publications, very richly. For example: our translation of Sogyal Rinpoche`s Dharma speech at European Buddhist Union / EBU congress in Berlin (1992) , entitled Spiritualiyt in daily life, is illustrated in such a way to show or point out the essence in Visual forms.
Later around 2000 , beginning of new millennium , we began to create Visual Dharmas on laptop, using simple programmes like Pinnacle or Ulead . At that time laptops and programmes very still expensive , but this did not stop us to move forward. In few years we created hundreds of video clips not with the intention to publish them , because there was no internet connection nearby at that time of Ati Yoga Ling. These years were years of creativity and contemplation in silence of solitude, developing contemplative Ars sacra. We also did not look any movies or tv : our creative process was not influenced by mass media. When we finally got internet access and open youtube channel we could upload many Visual Dharmas from the archive.
Networking : with unlimited internet access we can now more actively communicate with viewers and readers at different sites of Buddha Dharma-OBFI. And promote this Spiritual Guidance for 3rd millennium in Wisdom Without Borders programme. WISDOM and COMPASSION IN ACTION, significant for socially engaged Buddhists.
4.1.2. Practical ethic for new millennium
I still remember saying of Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche at the Dharma seminar Meditation in Action (Adria convent, Ankaran city, March 1994, organised by Buddha Dharma) : “To create Buddhist movie is more important as to build the monastery…Monastery benefits only local population. But Buddhist movie can be seen all over the world…” After fifteen years this saying became very true in times of global internet communications.
All 52 Visual Dharmas and more than 80 posts at the Heritage of Mankind have clear practical message : Save lives today: Be Veg. Go green. Save the planet together with so many of us . Compassion begins at your dinner table.
