๑۩۞۩๑     Dear Friends and readers at the HERITAGE OF MANKIND , at ACADEMIA.EDU and our other internet sites , Blessed summer solstice ; may pure Dharma increase as the summer river . Now we wish to share with you precious Ati Yoga Dzogchen verse written by Lho Ontrul Rinpoche more than twenty – one years ago.

1. Introduction :
   • Alive History …. In Spring 1994 Mangala Konchok Norbu and I attended Dream yoga teaching by Lho Ontrul Rinpoche at the castle of Limberg in South Austria. Event was organised by Drikung Kagyu Order from Vienna , at that time lead by late Armin Ackermann . It was held in nice surroundings of the empty castle at Limberg , in a baroque hall.

Although this was already twenty-one years ago I still remember the details. Adriano Clemente from Dzogchen community in Italy was invited as translator . With Rinpoche was also his wife Tashi Dolma and his youngest son . Few months ago we at Buddha Dharma organised teaching and retreat with Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche (March 1994) at Ankaran city Convent on the Adriatic sea side in Slovenia. I was eager to ask Lho Ontrul Rinpoche to write Long –life prayer for Dzongsar Khynetse Rinpoche at the Dream yoga retreat. And Rinpoche wrote short, most beautiful Ati Yoga Dzogchen verse…At that time I was in the main baroque hall of the castle while Rinpoche was in his room . I chanted Vajra Guru mantra slowly and devotedly .

Later that day Tashi Dolma and Adriano Clemente translated the Verse from Rinpoche*s handwritting into English . Now twenty-one years ago I created gif animation of the Verse , for inspiration and creativity.

• Alive History continuation ๑۩۞۩๑ :

This wonderful verse was included later in transcription of the teaching : Meditation in action by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche . Because this Ati Yoga verse is about Guru Yoga Dzogchen practice , it is also included in Dharma essays dedicated to Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche (1931-2011).

2. 1. Condensed meaning of Ati Yoga Dzogchen verse ๑۩۞۩๑

When I met Tai Situ Rinpoche on one of his teachings in Austria (Mahamudra) I showed him this verse and asked for some explanations. Tai Situ Rinpoche immediately saw connection to Mind (Thug) and Voice/Speech /Energy (Sung). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK8q_pg2YmU

2.2. Since I really appreciate this Verse by Lho Ontrul Rinpoche I recited it many years every day and contemplated its meaning . I also practiced prostrations. Later I had conversation via Skype with Tibetan translator who lives in Australia . He typed this Verse in Tibetan , on his computer . We wanted beautiful Dharma art photo with Tibetan letters (still need to be accomplished…Dharma project incontinuation). 2.3. Lho Ontul Rinpoche is also one of my Refuge Lamas who gave me the name Drimed Drolkhar , besides Dzogchen Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche who gave me the Refuge name Tara on 8th lunar day in secodn lunar month in 1994 . This  Ati Yoga Dzogchen verse contains all essentials of Ati Guru Yoga : ….we pray to inner Samantabhadra Buddha, our Buddha nature or Tathagatagharba in us . Our Dharmadhatu state (Choying) or dimension of enlightened Mind/Awareness (Thug) has inherent unceasing (Mingag) wisdom (Yeshe) sound of Rigpa (Rigpai Sung). That is our essence (Nowo); nature and energy are unseparable (Yermed) from the glorious (Je’) Dharmakaya master (Choku Lama Je’). Samantabhadra Buddha Dharmakaya is stable (Thagden)  Voidness (Shunyata ) and spontaneous (Lhundrub), manifesting as the Wisdom Sound /Voice/Energy of Rigpa (Rigpai Sung). As Chogyal Namkhai Norbu teaches : our natural state is self-perfected with three primordial wisdoms : essence, nature, energy . From the natural Sound of Dharmata (Chonyid kyi rangdra) this Ati Guru Yoga verse offers very meaningful explanation about »unceasing wisdom sound/voice/energy of Rigpa – mingag yeshe rigpai sung, unceasing wisdom in us . It is not created, it is uncreated (dumache’) , spontaneous (lhundrub) manifestation of Voidness (Dharmakaya, Choku), symbolically represented by Samantabhadra Buddha shining blue Light, unseparable from white Light of Samantabhadri .

As Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche is teaching : »Dharmakaya manifest as Rupakaya which includes Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya.« We must understand this psychologically and not as phylosophically discussion. We must understand this this from the Ati Yoga Dzogchen path of practice. 2.3. The meaning of Gongpa and Gompa in Ati Yoga practice ๑۩۞۩๑ Goggpa is connected to Mind to Mind transmission of the Buddhas and our Contemplation /Samadhi practice.  Gompa/meditation is connected with accumulation of merit and wisdom. Of course we need to meditate, but after Direct introduction we must appreciate contemplation or samadhi which is greated accumulation of merit and wisdom . Thus Chonyid kyi rangdra (Contemplating natiral Sound of Dharmata) becomes very important practice of Ati Yoga Dzogchen . As it is said in Ati Yoga Verse by Lho Ontrul Rinpoche : —-unceasing wisdom Sound of Rigpa / Mingag Yeshe Rigpai Sung May we all recognise Wisdom Sound of Rigpa in us, fro m moment to moment, unceasing presence of samantabhadra Buddha in us .

Guru Padmasambhava said in Lamrin Yeshe Nyingpo , hidden treasure of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo : “Lord Amitayus at Maratika And Maha Shri Heruka at Yanglesho Bestowed upon me with the natural sound of dharmata This sole quintessence of all the oral instructions. If Garab Dorje, Shri Singha, the Eight Vidyadharas, And all the supreme siddhas from whom I received the stages of the path Were to hold a great Dharma discussion with one another, There would be no other summary-manual than this compiling their realization. Throughout the countries of Uddiyana, India, Tibet and elsewhere, This is the unmistaken condensed meaning Of all the infinite profound and extensive wheels of the Dharma Such as guru sadhana, the Great Perfection, Avalokiteshvara and the Eight Sadhana Teachings. In short, there does not exist an ultimate instruction other than this. Expressed in few words yet including all that should be expressed. Easy to comprehend and convenient to practice, Without depending on anything else, it perfects the paths for those of lower, medium and higher faculties. This is the self-resounding tantra of dharmata, the indestructible essence, From the space of luminosity in the five-colored sphere within the heart of me, Padmasambhava. It is the path traversed by all the buddhas of the three times. Praised by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo as being more valuable than thirty yak loads of scriptures, the Lamrim Yeshe Nyingpo comprises together with the commentary by Jamgon Kongtrul, the important last volume in both the collections of termas and teachings renowned as Rinchen Terdzo and New Treasures.”

IV . Afterword ๑۩۞۩๑: Since twenty-one years I treasure this Ati yoga verse as  Dzogchen oral transmission by Lho Ontrul Rinpoche . As written in his biography – Rinpoche was terton or discoverer of hidden treasures/termas in his previous lives . This Ati Guru Yoga bears all qualities of such hidden treasure. ๑۩۞۩๑ OM AH HUM May Lho Ontul Rinpoche enjoys health, peace , welleing and very long life . Master Vimalamitra is the only one who wrote commentary on Dra Thal Gyur tantra or Reverberation of Sound  .Vimalamitras commentary is preserved at Khatok monastery in East Tibet . REVERBERATION OF SOUND is the root of all Buddhist Dharma . Reverberation of Sound (Dra Thal Gyur) is connected to 16 other Dzogchen Upadesha tantras .
