I.Introduction ॐ स्वस्ति OM SVASTI
Dear Friends of Buddha Dharma, may Visual Dharma Prayer of Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche find you in great peace, health and prosperity. II. BUDDHIST SPIRITUAL * RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES
Since the Dharma work , Teachings , transmissions and Heart advice of Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche (born 1931 in Tibet) have influenced so much of our spiritual development, we like to publish excerpts from Rinpoche´s less known precious Dharma writings which are not so easily available. Such Writing is the one entitled Gypsy Gossip. It is not an ordinary gossip, but fresh and direct wisdom speech, appearing as answers to various questions, asked by the students and Dharma friends. In Chan * Zen language we would say : it is like Dokusan * personal interview with the Master.
Gypsy gossip has those chapters : Introduction, Aspects of spirituality, Karma, Birth control, Rebirth, Oriental teachers in the West, Teachers, Faith, Samaya, Dharma centres, Solitude, Change, Arrogance, Fear, Male supremacy, Women´s qualities, Bliss, The Seven-line Prayer of Guru Rinpoche, Dances of Eight manifestations of Padma Sambhava. We found this precious Dharma text around 1990 in the library of Dzogchen community in Merigar (founded by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu) . Some chapters were later re-published in our Mahasandhi magazine and sent to Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche to USA. On of very interesting chapters in Gypsy Gossip is about Rebirth.
2.1. Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche : Rebirth
Is the Buddhist rebirth doctrine the same for spiritual teachers and ordinary beings ? What about you ? Buddhas are reborn effortlessly through a most powerful wisdom compassion. Bodhisattvas are reborn due to their great and powerful prayers and aspirations in previous lives. Ordinary beings are reborn simply as a result of their karma.
When great teachers are born, they unobstructedly manifest the wisdom compassion of the enlightenment mind of the Buddha through various appearances in whatever way will be of most benefit for the different faculties of sentient beings.
According to the tantric system when a lama or yogi has confidence in the realisation of fundamental wisdom, this realisation appears as a form of the deity. Through the power of this visualisation or pride as the deity and with the wish to be reborn, he can either spontaneously enter the mothers womb, or through the visualisation of the parents as wisdom deity he can transfer his mind in the form of the deities seed syllable to the mothers womb, seen as the deities palace.
But ordinary beings are reborn due to the ripening of their karma. The root circumstance for rebirth is their attachment to samsara. The contributory circumstance for rebirth are clinging to the parents and the seeds produced through sexual union. But I myself do not think that I was reborn through unobstructed wisdom compassion or due to my great and powerful prayers of aspirations . From the beginning, although they were inherent in me, I did not recognise my father, great pure self-phenomena, Kuntuzangpo, and my mother, unchangeable gentle great voidness, Kuntuzangmo. So I could not suck the desireless bliss milk of my mothers breast. I couldn´t rest in her uncontrived natural smooth love lap, nor could I discern my father´s skilful means love. Although this great parents constantly comforted me without expectation, I separated from them and meet my bad influence playmate which is ego.
Exactly when my ego began, I don`t remember. Anyway, I did not recognise the unobstructed clarity of my wisdom mind , instead I saw all phenomena as separate from myself and I grasped at them as objects. I linked with them as a self-existing reality. When I saw good phenomena I grasped at them and created more desire and when I saw bad phenomena, I rejected them and created more aversion. This passions generated my karma. I, the subject, and my playmate the object, united and sought out more friends to play with. I meet the ordinary six sense consciousnesses ; the consciousnesses of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching and of mind. We wandered together in the turbulence of cyclic suffering, aimlessly producing garbage for schizophenic rats who dwell in the muck of samsara, roaming through cities for countless lives.
Afterword : At Buddha Dharma we translated Gypsy Gossip into Slovenian, adding creative Dharma work on CD-Rom of Vajra – Garuda e-Publications 2003 ISBN 961-91189-1-X
Rinpoche´s original text was published in the Crystal Mirror – Dharma publishing , Berkeley , USA. May the life of Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche – one of most accomplished Nyingma Vajrayana and Atiyoga * Dzogchen Masters of our times and an emanation of Longchen Rabjam, be firm and secure for countless of kalpas.

The different realms of planes of existence look like as different mental states … happy and painful ones … rather than actual physical places .It is difficult to perceive the mind , consciousness , mental training , perception , or sensation as they are . Compare with the greatest desire ( tanha : craving , wishing ) which filled with different mental states that we can not understand it’s real forms , but we can feel and draw its as it is a ghost or deva ( angel ) .
May peace , happiness and wisdom be upon you always !
Q.198 – As there are different mental states in the mind , do sensuous , form , and formlessness manifest only in the mind ?
Mind or consciousness is not something different from mental states. They are the same. Manifestations of unaware consciousness/mind is samsara or cyclic existence. Your mind/consciousness is covered with too much thinking ! Search for peace of mind, search for Enlightenment. As Buddha Shakyamuni said : Nirvana is PEACE. Let your thinking calm down, let all these questions disappear into innate spaciousness. This can be experienced even with Anapanasati meditation : breath deeply and in relaxed manner. Inhale …. Exhale… Be aware of your relaxed breathing. Don´t worry about mental states, mind, consciousness. Just be aware of your breathing.

Q.199 – As samsara covered up all sensuous , form , and formlessness realms , is it existing really in the form of the feeling’s mind of the Buddha ?
Just be aware. There is no feeling mind of the Buddha. Buddha or completely enlightened One does not have samsaric mind which is unaware and covered with conceptual ignorance. Just still your unaware mind/consciousness . Breath deeply and oin relaxed manner. Inhale… Exhale. Be aware of your relaxed breathing. This is Dharma practice in daily life.
Q.200 – Our mind detects generally to the good and evil in every second : can we tell it to do also the good and evil ? We are already at question No. 200 ! Did you learned anything useful for your daily life. My answering such questions are for Dharma practice in daily life, toward Enlightenment. We don´t spend time with intellectual debates , since we are not in the monastery. We are at the International Institute for Contemporary Buddhist Studies : our answers give direct guidance for spiritual development on the Path toward Enlightenment. Buddha Shakyamuni said : Avoid all negative actions. Accomplish good actions (good karma). Purify your mind/consciousness.
Nutier: blessed Buddha once pointed out : All constructions are impermanent ! When realizing that by understanding , one gets disgusted with suffering .this is the path to purity . All constructions are miserable ! When realizing that by understanding , one gets disgusted with suffering . This is the path to purity . All states are no -self ! When realizing that by understanding , one gets disgusted with suffering . This is the path to purity.
During Dharma study it is recommended to practise Chi Kung Energy workout, to maintain concentration and to strengthen one´s energy.

Q.201 – If all constructions are impermanent and miserable , why do we build something that we do not need : great Buddhist temples on earth ?
Dear Friend, you have peculiar way of thinking. Take great care and avoid the mistake of interpreting the Teachings of Lord Buddha in your particular way. Take great care to meditate and pray daily. Otherwise you can easily get into the nihilistic way of thinking. Lord Buddha also taught about compassion, love and wisdom. In Theravada school there is Metta Bhavana meditation about loving kindness. Learn this meditation and practise it daily. Great Buddhist temples on Earth are Heritage of Mankind . One must respect Holy places of Buddhism. One must respect and appreciate Buddhist Dharma and those who teach the Path of Enlightenment.
Q.202 – If all states are no-self , are also the happy and painful etc. no-self ?
Buddhist meditator and in fact any wise person nourish virtuous states of mind, accumulates merit/positive energy which leads to wisdom. Wisdom of discernment (prajna, panna). One must distinguish between positive and negative thoughts . No-self (Anatta) does not mean nihilist “emptiness”. It means to be aware, not attached to negative states of mind/consciousness.
Q.203 – If impermanence is the origin of suffering , is suffering the cause of no-self , or in the reverse ? Impermanence is not the origin of suffering. To understand this study the Visual Dharma: Dharma Wheel. Here is the link :

Dear Zrinka Jerkovic , thank you for uploading this photo of unfortunate history of Yugoslavia. Many of us , born in Slovenia, did not even know that Goli otok (Barren island) is so near at the bay of Kvarner.That around 50.000 ! political and other prisoners were imprisoned there from 1949 – 1988. Historians wrote much detailed research about this terrible prison : only 1 person escaped from the Goli otok. Some who were imprisoned here (Igor Torkar, Branko Hofman,Ligio Zanini,Radovan Hrast and other autors) later wrote autobiographic books which everyone should read.
