I am writing this at the ancient city of Piran on the Adriatic sea of Slovenia .

In the pre-Roman era, the hills in the Piran area were inhabited by Illyrian Histri tribes who were farmers, hunters and fishermen. They were also pirates who disrupted Roman trade in the northern Adriatic.[2]

The decline of the Roman Empire, from the 5th century AD onward, and incursions by the Avars and Slavs at the end of the 6th century, prompted the Roman population to withdraw into easily defensible locations such as islands or peninsulas. This started local urbanisation and by the 7th century, under Byzantine rule, Piran had become heavily fortified. Despite the defences, the Franks conquered Istria in 788 and Slavs settled in the region. By 952, Piran had become a part of the Holy Roman Empire.[2]
The earliest reliable records of the area are in the 7th century work Cosmographia by an anonymous cleric of Ravenna. The name of the town most probably originates from the Greek “pyrrhos”,[3] which means “red”, because of the reddish flysch stones commonly found in the town’s area.[citation needed] Some historians also refer it to “pyros”, meaning fire, due to ancient lighthouses which were supposed to be on the edge of the marina.[4]

I discovered self-arisen Footprints in the stone during my first meditation retreats at Cres Island in Croatia , the same Adriatic sea … Altogether I completed sixteen Ati Yoga meditation retreats at Cres island , spending on that special island almost 180 days or six months … On fifteen retreats Vajra brother Mangala Konchok Norbu was meditating there too, on August 30 is his birthday which he is now celebrating in the Pure land of Amitabha Buddha . Ven. Konchok Norbu is actual proof what can be accomplished with diligent Dharma practice and devotion to Amitabha Buddha .
Ven. Konchok Norbu sent this Dharma teachings few months before he ascended to Sukhavati pure land of Buddha Amitabha . Its the Dharma from the Diamond Sutra pointing out the Vajra Samadhi ….
He is such an inspiration for everyone who knew him !

listen to Tong Li Chinese sublime songs , observe the reflection of the Moon in the sea …

on my sixteenth Atiyoga meditation retreat at Cres island in Croatia I was alone ,contemplating
late in the evening at the solitary bay beneath the Pada self-arisen Footprints in the rock …
It was few minutes walk at the shore toward bungalow settlement …
There was no Moon in the night sky , but…
on my right side was the sea and in the sea two meters long green bright light walking with me …
I was quite surprised by seeing this light in the sea …
And to my surprise not long ago, few weeks ago actually I came across the documentary :
